HANI's Honey
Who is HANI?
HANI Selamat is a Capricorn, Malaysian, Muslim, Malay female born in the Metal Monkey Year of January 1981. I'm trying to get a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing,
but I keep failing every other semester.
I live with my parents in Selangor, Malaysia, where my mom thinks I might have Attention Deficit Disorder. I've been in Love with Tariq for two years, and we suffer a long-distance relationship while he studies in London.
My mother named me. According to her, she named me Hani so she could call me Honey. I don't think Hani and Honey sound the same whatsoever, but then again, my mother's English accent is atrocious.
I like various forms of socializing, dancing, sleeping, webpage designing, primping, and spending money.
What is HANI's Honey?
Technically, it's a weblog. One of many on the internet. In practice, it's many things:
- It is my public diary and speaker's podium. Imagine a room, full of people, trying to speak of all sorts of things, all at once. That room is my head. This blog, is where each voice in my head, with its different topic, is allowed to stand out from each other. Without this blog, all those voices would be just one huge buzz of a single room full of people.
- It is the lazy girl's version of e-mail. I write stories of myself for my friends and family to consume on their own time and at their own pleasure. Take it or leave it, it doesn't clutter up my Sent folder, nor other people's inboxes.
- It is other people's hang-out. I get over seventy unique visitors daily. They read my entries, they comment, reply comments, and discuss all sorts of things on my weblog. I'm not sure why. They can't seem to explain the reasons to me.
- It is my ongoing public statement. I put all my announcements, my justifications, my excuses, my reasons, and my very personality on this blog, for other people to see. I want people to know me.
I began blogging in June 2001, but the current blog and it's theme of honesty began in May 2002. It has since been refined and will continue to be improved as time goes on.
Why would you be so honest in a public forum?
I believe that one should live life openly, without things to hide. Communication is the key to enhancing relationships among society. Hiding things away (or being shy), in my opinion, are selfish acts that deprive the society of your experiences, learnt lessons, opinions, and personality.
Since I believe that we only have one lifetime to live in, sharing each other's experiences is the only way we can live more than one lifetime. Of course, this assumes that you appreciate the life that you are given, which I do.
Is there anything you don't blog about?
Though I prefer to live life openly, facing whatever consequences such honesty may lead to, others are not as willing as I am. I don't blog about other people's secrets, or details of my life that may invade other people's privacy.
I also refuse to archive blog entries that may cause harm to other people, whether psychological or physical, due to what the blog entries reveal. If you want to read any of the blog entries that are not archived, feel free to e-mail me for a copy!
